2 year check-up

A couple of days ago was Brennan's 2 year check-up. She weighs 26 lbs and 8 oz (48th percentile)and the nurse measured her to be 35" tall (80th percentile). I really didn't think she was in the 80th percentile for height, she's seems shorter than most kids her age. (I should have asked the nurse to measure her again.) So when we got home I measured her and I think she's closer to 33 - 33 1/2" long.

Brennan was so good at the doctor. I think it was the best she has been since she was 2 months old. Ever since she had to have that catheter at 2 months old she cries as soon as we go to triage. This time she didn't cry at all until she got her shots, then it was only for a minute or two. She had to have 3 shots, 2 in one leg and 1 in the other. The nurse put a band-aid on both legs and once I got Brennan dressed she kept trying to pull up her pants to look at her "boo-boo".

Last week Brennan had a cold and I had to take her to the doctor because she was wheezing. I asked the doctor why she wheezed when she had colds and she used the word "asthma". Kind of freaked me out but after talking to Brennan's regular doctor at her check-up she made me feel better. She said that Brennan probably doesn't have the typical asthma that you usually think of. She said that she will most likely grow out of it. Basically her respiratory system is still "growing" so hopefully once it's fully mature she won't have the problems with wheezing. So we now have a nebulizer at home and can hopefully treat the wheezing when she's sick without having to go to the doctor.

2nd Birthday!

Saturday was Brennan's 2nd birthday. I just can't believe that she's already two, I wish I could stop time and keep her at this age. I love this age when they are so sweet and love to be snuggled. I love watching her learn and discover new things and the excitement comes with it.

We had planned on having her birthday party at a park close by but since she had a cold and was wheezing earlier in the week (also factor in the bad air quality) the doctor said it would be best to have the party indoors. So we just had a party at our house. We had decided to keep it small this year and invited close friends and family. Gammi, Poppy, Memaw, Papaw, Michelle, Trinity, Cooper, Jason, Kimberly, Ryker, Taylor, Holly & Mike all came. Brennan got some wonderful gifts, she got some new clothes, books, a Barbie Car, a Barbie carrying case, play food for her kitchen, a Critter Clinic, birthday party cake set and a Barbie trike. Brennan gave us a little fashion show after the party. She had to try on every single piece of new clothing she got!! All her toys were a hit, she has played with them every single day.

So Retro!

At one of my baby showers my mom gave me a bunch of my baby clothes. I kind of forgot about them until a few weeks ago. So I went into Brennan's closet and found only one dress that she could fit in (the others were either too small or too big). The dress looked really cute on her and when I told her it was Mommy's dress she kept walking around saying, "Mommy's dress". I think she even said "cute" at one point so I guess she liked it!

Dedication

Last Wednesday we had Brennan dedicated at church. We had a special Wednesday service that also included the baby dedications. Brennan has never been to church service before and when worship started she stared at the band for almost an entire song. After that she wanted to get down and either dance or try to run around. It was hard to keep her up front with us. She kept going to the row behind us to see Aunt Kerri and a couple of times she ran to the back row to sit with Michelle. After worship we had communion then we did all the dedications. It was really cool because there were 3 other families that are in our growth group that were dedicating their children too. Brennan didn't stay still while we were standing at the front of the church and I was trying hard not to crack up, that girl just stays on the move.

Thank you Gammi, Poppy & Aunt Kerri for coming and sharing that special moment with us.

Playing with stickers

The other night after bath Brennan decided to dress herself with stickers.

Beach Vacation

A few weeks ago we went on a week long beach vacation. We rented a beach house with Jason, Kimberly, Ryker, Julie, Jamie & Kaylee. This was Brennan's second beach trip but when we went last year she was about to turn a year old and wasn't walking. I knew this year it would be completely different and I couldn't wait to see how she reacted. The minute she stepped foot on the sand she loved it! She loved playing in the sand and she loved swimming in the ocean. One of us would have to hold her because she doesn't have a life jacket and her swimmies wouldn't work well. She would stay in the ocean all day if we let her. It's so funny because when we go swimming at a pool she stays in for about 5 minutes and then starts saying, "done, done". I don't think she ever said "done" when she was in the ocean.

One night we went to dinner at Pompano Joe's and afterward we went to a place called The Track. They have rides for the kids like swings, a train, a carousel. Brennan loved everything that she was able to ride. I think the swings were her favorite (she rode twice) and she was so cute and still when she was riding. When all the kids finished their rides we went to ride go karts. Brennan wasn't tall enough to ride so they wouldn't allow her on, she was so upset. She even had on her high heels and still wasn't tall enough. So her & I stood by the fence and watched everyone else race. I hated to see the disappointment on her face every time she saw Stephen or Ethan riding by.
